Imagination

This past month, Eli's imagination has really started to come out. It has been sooo fun. One day this week after I changed Eli's diaper he went and got one of his bears, laid it in front of me in the floor and said "Bear pepe" and asked me to put a diaper on him. So, how could I resist! It was such a sweet moment. Just a minute or so later he brought me his monkey and did the same thing again. Later that same day I pointed to Lucy and said "Eli, who is this?" and he said "It's Wucy". Then I told him how she was his sister and asked him if he could say sister and he said "Sister". From there I explained how he was her big brother and told him to say "I'm the big brother". He looked at me and said "No" pointed to himself and said "No, it's Eli" Oh how I love him!

Happy Birthday, Granpa

Granpa Jerry had a birthday this week and we got to spend it with him. We took a quick trip down to Monticello to celebrate. Great Gran cooked a wonderful meal and we ended the day with pie and ice cream. Yum! But it didn't end with his birthday, when we woke up the next morning she cooked a big breakfast with eggs, bacon and pancakes. We are definitely spoiled when we visit. And, as if she hadn't spent enough time in the kitchen, she made bacon spaghetti for lunch. One thing is for sure, we don't go hungry when in Monticello :) As you can see below, the kids enjoyed themselves. Eli has a thing for cats or "titten" as he calls them. Jasper was nice enough to stick around for Eli's entertainment. Put Cat would not even stay in the same room, she just wasn't having it. Eli spent a good deal of time looking for the titten and calling on anyone that would give him their attention to "mere" with him and look, too. He is at a fun age. Don't get me wrong, still loving Lucy, but all we can report is more spit up, still quite a bit of sleeping and occasional smiling. You know how that goes. She is getting bigger by the minute and prettier, too.

Drew's dedication

Last weekend we traveled to NWA for Baby Drew's dedication. It was a great day. After church we went to my brother's house where he and his family hosted a lunch. There were lots of family and friends. Eli loves playing with his cousins. He will ask me about them at least once a day and ask to go to their house. They have a trampoline that was a big hit for all the kids. It was rather hot and I am thankful to my husband for jumping with Eli. I have to say I wasn't up for the sweating that day :) And since I am thanking people, I need to also thank Nana and Pammie for helping us chase Eli around. We are truly blessed.

Lucy's first "playdate"

We finally got the chance to meet Cal's little sister, Laney, this week. I think the girls had mixed feelings about this visit :)

GOT DIRT?

This evening we went to Wilson's first soccer game! The weather was purfect for being outdoors. It didn't take Eli 2 seconds to really start to enjoy the muddy infield. He started out just running in circles and sticking his fingers in the dirt, then he started digging and before I knew it he was putting chunks of mud IN HIS MOUTH!!! My first thought was that he would spit it out and think it was yucky, but no, he continued to eat more of it. He would play and run and occasionally put a nice little helping of dirt in his mouth. It was all over his mouth as if he had been eating chocolate :) Little boys...... I'm so thankful for some good weather so that he has the chance to explore and run and play.

Some bunny is growing....

Lucy had her 2 month checkup today. She now weighs 10lbs 110z and is about 23 1/2 in long. She got 4 shots and took em like a champ. This evening she hung out with Nana while Eli and I went to Wilson's soccer game and when I picked her up she was in one of my old outfits. Mom has a picture of me in this when I was a baby. We'll have to find it and compare.

Fridge Art

Today, Eli came home with art! He has started Mother's Day Out this fall and today he brought home his first piece of art. This is his first installment in the series Fridge Art. I have been looking forward to the day that he would bring something home to be hung on the fridge! And how appropriate this one is, because it rained ALL day.

labor day

since i have known nathan, we go to his aunt and uncle's house for labor day weekend. so we headed out last wed., stopping first in kansas city to stay with gramma gari and aunt tarah and then heading on to atlantic, ia. it was a great trip and a fun time was had by all. the kids were awesome on the drive! thank goodness for the dvd player in our van. lucy had a long trip home due to a new medicine that made her hungry all the time and a little fussy, but we got it all straightened out and she is back to normal. whew! they were also wonderful while there, of course they had many people to play with them or hold them. eli is doing or saying something new everyday recently. he is at such a fun age, i can't get enough, although i do enjoy the break at nap time and bedtime :) so overall it was another fun labor day weekend, tiring, but fun. i didn't do a very good job of getting pictures, but here are a few. i wish i would have taken some pictures of their house. it was 100yrs old or more (i can't remember the year it was built) it has a lot of character. his aunt and uncle are currently fixing it up and such. it was a cool house. one of the best things about the house was the huge porch. we spent a lot of time out on the porch from breakfast to dinner. the weather in iowa was great, especially at night. it got down in the 50s!!!! i'm so ready for fall..........

I asked eli to smile and this was the face i got. his mouth is full of banana bread

this is how lucy looked for most of the trip
okay, this last picture is from last friday in kansas city. we were waiting for aunt tarah to get home from class so we could head out for atlantic. i was hoping to get eli to take his nap on the trip there, so i had already packed his pack'n'play. it was around 11am i think and eli was watching a movie. lately he has started laying on his tummy when watching "td" and that day was no exception. so i look over at him and notice that he isn't even looking at the tv anymore and before i knew it he is out cold! this might not be blog worthy for some of you out there, but i thought it was just precious! absolutely precious!
